Ah - ok progress - it turns out that when you use Ubuntu as the master,
it doesn't store pxelinux.0 in a place the xCAT recognises. The
/opt/xcat/lib/perl/xCAT_plugin/pxe.pm expects to find pxelinux in either
$tftpdir or /usr/lib/syslinux/pxelinux.0 or
/usr/share/syslinux/pxelinux.0 - however "apt install pxelinux" does put
pxelinux.0 into /usr/lib/PXELINUX/pxelinux.0
As a result you need to run ln -s /usr/lib/PXELINUX/pxelinux.0
/usr/lib/syslinux/pxelinux.0 and then you can run rinstall....
***@xcat1:/usr/lib/syslinux# rinstall cn01
osimage=ubuntu16.04.1-x86_64-install-compute -V
Provision node(s): cn01
Run command: nodeset cn01 osimage=ubuntu16.04.1-x86_64-install-compute
cn01: install ubuntu16.04.1-x86_64-compute
xcat1: Unable to determine or reasonably guess the image server for cn01
Run command: rpower cn01 boot
Can't find cn01
Can't find cn01
Error: failed to run 'rpower' against the following nodes: cn01
Making progress - I get the impression I'm not running on a supported
master? I'll keep on debugging but if anyone has any further ideas they
would be gratefully received.
